Not-so-deep thoughts

COSTA MESA, California - Well, well, well, it looks like the home 
team France has finally made it to the second round and has the 
highest goal differential of any team (+7, I believe).  If it 
weren't for the red card against Zidane, one would think the refs 
were pulling for 'em.  This is definitely not the case, as it is 
apparent that they are siding with Italy...

Did anybody see the South Africa/Denmark game this morning?  I tuned
in during the second half but thought it was over, since there wasn't
anybody left on the field.  "Bloody Thursday" as the day came to be 
known, was ugly, as four red cards were handed out in the span of 
four hours.  The number of reds given out exceeded the total for the 
tournament so far.
