FGC DUNKS GTOWN AS PAC-12 REVERTS TO NORMAL
Three top pool while KobeIsEpic1 nails FGC
CERRITOS, CA (smt)- #15S-Florida Gulf Coast used a 21-2 run to break open a 31-31 game and became just the 7th #2 seed to beat a #15 seed, knocking off mighty #2S-Georgetown. A lot of the FGC late baskets were highlight reel dunks including one of the best ones I’ve seen on the fake layup, throw the ball high in the air behind you, and one-hand slam with 1:53 left.  So much fun to watch and I had Georgetown in the Final Four in both my brackets!  But that was just one of 6 upsets on the day.  #7E-Illinois and #13W-La Salle each hit just 3 field goals in the 2nd half and both teams still won.  #16S-Western Kentucky gave #1S-Kansas a scare, coming with four late in the game. #2MW-Duke, #12W-Ole Miss, #2E-Miami, #1E-Indiana, #2W-Ohio St, #3S-Florida, #7S-San Diego St, #10W-Iowa St, and #11S-Minn all won relatively easily with the latter being the trendy upset pick (and actually odds on favorite) as #6S-UCLA fizzed and left the Pac-12 0-2 for the day after going 3-0 yesterday.  #9E-Temple, #7MW-Creighton, and #8S-UNC held on with the latter setting up a UNC-Kansas matchup featuring ex-UNC now Kansas coach Roy Williams (who got his 700th win).

Poolraider went 13-3 to move into a 3-way tie for first (50 pts) with Jhawkruse and Suspendi BKobeIsEpic1 (12th-Tied, 46) was the only to nail FGC while 7 picked La Salle and 23 picked Ole Miss.  Slamjam51.1 and Jason97782-3 both went 7-9 to move into a 3-way tie for last (34) with BamaG.

We are now on Twitter (@HWCI_Pools).  As I did for our HWCI Euro Soccer Pool when it debuted, I will post using #hwcincaa mini-updates during the day so you can follow without being on Twitter (and if you are, please use #hwcincaa).  Please join our Facebook HWCI NCAA Pool Group or post comments on our blog.

Tids & Bits What ugly ND unis… If you’ve forgotten who picked, you can look at anyone’s bracket here. or see everyone’s pick in a list style here… the Big 10 living up to the best conference going 6-1 with the Atlantic 10 going 5-0 (6-0 including First Four) and the ACC going 3-1… SEC is 2-3, the last year of the Big East as we know it is 3-5 and MWC is 2-2 (2-3 including First Four)… 7 entries lost their champ (Georgetown 3, UCLA 2, K-St and ND 1 each)… FGC also faced #2 seeds Miami (won) and Duke (lost)… Georgetown has now lost to a double-digit seed in its last five tournaments (all at least 5 spots worse); remember that next year… 60 of 131 picked Minnesota making it this year’s sure-fire upset pick by a #11 or higher seed… FGC wasn’t even a team when we started our pool in ’95 (founded ’97)… #12S-Akron was the only 12 seed who didn’t win…
