LSU RUNS AWAY IN OVERTIME WHILE UCLA SHUTS DOWN MEMPHIS
Belucky1 moves into 1st but does not have champion alive

SAN JOSE, CA (smt)- #4S-LSU blew a late 50-45 lead but routed #2S-Texas in OT, pulling out a 70-60 victory. An unbelievable, crazy sequence late in regulation finally ended with Texas tying the game on a three pointer that ultimately sent the game into overtime. Both teams scored 26 pts in each half but LSU bolted to a 59-52 lead in overtime and never looked back. The Bayou Bengals reach the Final Four for the first time since 1986. #2W-UCLA leapt into a 21-9 lead over #1W-Memphis and never let the Tigers get into the game, winning 50-45 and advancing to the Final Four for the first time since 1995, when our pool first started thanks to UCLA being the favorite to win it all.

The Bruins prevented a Tiger-Tiger match-up (in line with the earlier Bruin-Bruin & Husky-Husky match-ups) in the Final Four. UCLA again continued to be streaky from the charity stripe. They missed 5 of their last 7 free throws vs Alabama, made 15 of 17 (which kept them in the game) to start against Gonzaga and then hit 7 of their last 8, and in this game vs Memphis, missed 15 of their first 21 free throws to give the Tigers a fighting chance. But then UCLA at one stretch in the second half hit 14 of 17 free throws to ice the game.UCLA's defense was relentless as Memphis, who hit an average of 7.6 3-pointers a game, missed their first 14 attempts before hitting two in garbage time. UCLA did go 8:39 without a FG, a common occurrence among teams this year.

SAMURAI JACK (99 pts) was the only one to get both correct and moved from a tie for 39th place to a tie for 13th. He, GATORS NEVER CHOKE (26th-Tied, 94), and KYLIAAR (10th-T, 101) were the only ones to pick LSU. Thirty-two (32) picked UCLA but that meant 51 went 0-2 today. The first change in a while occurred as BELUCKY1 moved into first with 106 pts with LORENZO MATA in second with 105. Unfortunately, both do not have their champion (Duke). THE MIGHTY MOBELFAKTA (106), who can't win first, and JINX (104) move into 3rd and 4th place with previous leader BASKETBALL JONES (104) dropping into a tie for 4th. ANGRY HAWAIIAN (84th, 63) is no longer in last as FABIO (62) takes the cellar spot.

Five entries lost both games (losing Memphis and Texas) while SAMURAI JACK is the only to try to become just the 3rd person to pick all 4 Final Four teams (601 entries including this year). AKUMA (80th, 72) and EEK (50th-T, 86) became the 3rd and 4th entries to go 0-for-the-Final-Four.

BELUCKY1 has the best chance for money (65.6%) while JINX and AGENT 86 OF CONTROL (6th-T, 102) have a 43.8% chance for money. LORENZO MATA, SAMURAI JACK, FAT BASTARD (13th-T, 99), BELUCKY1, and GATORS NEVER CHOKE (26th-T, 94) all have between 12.5-18.8% chance of winning first. Four others have a chance for 1st and a total of 18 are still alive for big money.

The SEC picked up win # 10 to close in on the Big East, which has 11 wins. All 48 are still alive to win the $40 Bonus Prize (minus the eventual big money winners).
