VILLANOVA, FLORIDA, AND UCONN SURVIVE WHILE GEORGE MASON BREEZES BY
Cobi's Crusaders in great shape as Basketball Jones hold onto slim lead

SAN JOSE, CA (smt)- #4MW-Boston College was caught napping and #1MW-Villanova took advantage for the game-winning shot (goaltending called) with 2 seconds left to win 60-59 in overtime. It was the first OT loss in nine games for BC as they couldn't hit their free throws when it counted (8 for 17). BC continued the trend of going scoreless for extremely long periods of time (9:16) and the Wildcats continued the trend of teams winning after being down by more than 10 points (26-9). #11E-George Mason took advantage of their "home" crowd and easily put away #7E-Wichita St in the battle of Cinderellas.

#3MW-Florida outlasted #7MW-Georgetown to reach the Elite 8, outscoring the Hoyas 5-0 in the last minute to win 57-53. In the battle of the Huskies, #1E-UConn needed a last minute three by Rashad Anderson to send the game vs. #5E-Washington into overtime. UConn rallied from 11 points down (51-40) and had just one more field goal than turnovers (27 to 26). UConn's coach could not believe the horrible refereeing but UConn still shot more than twice the free throws (47 to 23) of Washington.

Boy, have the refs been bad in the Sweet 16. Duke (of all people to complain) got muscled into a very physical game, UCLA couldn't buy a break until one of the very last plays, BC was frustrated by bad calls, UConn couldn't buy a break which almost got coach Jim Calhoun ejected, and Washington had five people foul out.

Twenty (20) went 3-1 today while 23 went 1-3. Seven (7) finished the third round 6-2 while three went a pitiful 1-7. BASKETBALL JONES still has the lead with 104 pts, however, the past five leaders after Round 3 have not won 1st place and only one has taken any money at all. COBI'S CRUSADERS and Cliff T's two entries, BELUCKY1 and BELUCKY2ME, moved into a tie for 2nd with 102 pts. POOLRAIDER (12th-Tied, 95 pts) had a bad day and fell from 3rd to out of contention.

Five still have all Final 4 teams alive. Only twice has someone picked all four Final 4 teams (in 516 total entries). KOBERAJ (68th-T, 79) became the second entry to lose all 4 Final 4 teams.

COBI'S CRUSADERS has the best chance for money (57.8%) while BASKETBALL JONES still has the odds for first (26.6%). Only 24 have a chance for big money and just a good number (13) still have a chance for first.

The Big East now has 11 wins with the SEC close behind with 9. Both have two teams in the Elite 8. Those are the only two conference with a chance to finish with the most wins. That still leaves 48 in the running for the $40 Bonus Prize. The Big East could finish with as many as 15 wins and the SEC 14.
