NCAA TOURNAMENT '95 - Update

4/4/95, Issue # 14.6.2 "To all the games I cared about..."

What if we just counted those games where you actually have a stake in the outcome of that game?  Who cares about Weber St.-Georgetown if you chose Michigan St. to reach the Sweet 16?  Mr. Nelson had a stake in a whopping 61 of 63 games!  On the flip side, both people who chose Kentucky to win it all, along with Andy's Crap had just 55 games of value.

Here would be the standings based on winning percentage of those games:

Poss Name Games W-L Pct. AP
1 Bix Pix 58 47-11 .810 #1
2 The Fabone 58 46-12 .793 #4
3 The MM 59 46-13 .780 #3
4T Bad Ass 57 44-13 .772 #5
4T God's Picks 57 44-13 .772 #7
6 Liver Boy 56 43-13 .678 #8T
7 Andy's Crap 55 42-13 .764 #10
8 Traitor Jen 55 41-14 .745 #11
9 Lil' Saigon 58 43-15 .741 #6
10 Mr. Nelson 61 45-16 .738 #2
11 Tina's Boy 56 41-15 .732 #8T
12 Loser..pick UCLA 55 39-16 .709 #12

AP- Actual placement in HWCI Pool

So although Mr. Nelson had just a .738 winning percentage (10th), by having at least three more games at stake, he was able to pull off enough victories to take 2nd place in the pool (where it counts). [Added March 2003]

Only games Mr. Nelson didn't care about: Villanova-Illinois and Arizona-Virginia...
