You can enter your picks in several ways:
The method detailed below (email, fax, or mail)
Using page 3 of this Word document (email, fax, or mail)
You will make 80 choices in this pool- all before the first match is played! You will pick the 48 winners of the round robin matches, the 16 teams who will advance to the Round of 16, the 8 teams who will make it to the Quarterfinals, the 4 teams who will make it to the Semifinals, the 2 teams in the Final Match, the World Cup champion, and a tiebreaker total goals prediction. Note you don’t have to make any predictions in the 3rd place match anymore. Here is what we will need from you:

GROUP A (6): List the six winners in order of group play (see next page) (if you want to be safe, list the game number then winner; e.g.,“1-South Africa, 2-Uruguay, 17-South Africa, 18-France, 33-Mexico, 34-France” instead of “RSA, URU, RSA, FRA, MEX, FRA” which is fine to do, if you have got them in the right order)
GROUP B (6): Same as above
GROUP C (6): Same as above
GROUP D (6): Same as above

GROUP F (6): Same as above
GROUP G (6): Same as above
GROUP H (6): Same as above
Round of 16 (16): List the 16 teams advancing into the Round of 16 (top 2 teams in each Group) (NOTE: It does not matter how you picked the round-robin matches)
Quarterfinalists (8): List the 8 teams who will reach the Quarterfinals (based on your Round of 16 matchups)
Semifinalists (4): List the 4 teams who will reach the Semifinals (based on your Round of 16 matchups)
Finalists (2): List the 2 teams who will play for the World Cup title
Champion (1): List the 1 team who will win it all
Tiebreaker Total Goals: In case of a tie, predict the total number of goals scored in BOTH the 3rd place and Final matches (NOT including penalty kick tiebreaker goal (e.g., in the 1994 World Cup Final match, no goals were scored, even though Brazil won on penalty kicks 1-0)). You can pick in ½ goal increments (i.e., 4.5 goals). The tiebreaker is just “closest to”, so if one person guesses 3.5 goals and another 4.5 goals and the actual total is 4 goals, then there is a tie.
After submitting your picks, please promptly pay your $10.00 entry fee. The preferred method is PayPal (see below for information). Or you can email worldcup(at)hwci.com for a snail mail address. Payment is due by June 13th.

PayPal is the most popular and established method of transferring funds between independent parties over the internet. Personal accounts are free. If you don't already have a PayPal account, you'll need to sign up for one. Because [email protected] is a personal PayPal account (as opposed to Business or Premier), we can't accept credit card payments. If you try to send a credit card payment, it will be rejected. This means you will have to set up your PayPal account to withdraw from a verifiable bank account or use existing PayPal funds or eCheck options. To do this, you'll need your bank account number and routing number ready. To pay just $10.00, you have to do it the old fashioned way and log in to PayPal, click Send Money to “[email protected]“, choose a PERSONAL reason (not a PURCHASE reason) such as "Gift", and send. But, to make things more convenient, if you prefer sending a credit card payment, you can now send $10.61 (2.9% + 32¢ PayPal fees) per entry to [email protected] (which is a Premier account). |
