		1998 HWCI WORLD CUP TOURNAMENT POOL '98

	NIGERIA WINS GROUP OF DEATH EASILY WHILE SPAIN STRUGGLES
	Half the first round is done and MLSBob still is perfect

	Leaving LA MIRADA, CA (smt)-  Nigeria (2-0) escapes the 
"Group of Death" with a 1-0 victory over Bulgaria (0-1-1).  Nigeria 
coach Bora Milutinovic leads his fourth straight team into the 
2nd Round, all different.  Bora led Mexico in 1986, an unlikely 
Costa Rica team in 1990, a doubtful USA team in 1994, and now an 
underachieving Nigeria team (ranked 74th in the world by FIFA and 
played badly just prior to this World Cup) into the Round of 16.
Paraguay (0-0-2) stopped Spain's free kick near the box in the last
play of the match to hold on to a 0-0 tie.  Spain (0-1-1), who was
the Group D favorite, finds itself tied for last with Bulgaria.
Paraguay, who has yet to score a goal, has two points and plays
Nigeria, who already clinched 1st place in Group D, next. 

	With exactly half the Round Robin matches completed, MLSBOB
holds onto a one point lead over seven others.  MLSBOB has gotten
every non-tied game correct and leads with 15 points.  In the
toughest first round match to predict, 11 chose Nigeria and 10 
chose Bulgaria, shuffling the lower half of the standings.  Remember,
MLSBOB's 15 points is only a fraction of the 196 (now 187) points
possible in the pool.  Three teams have advanced to the Round of 16:
Brazil, France, and Nigeria.

	Group H gets an early start tomorrow when Japan (0-1)
needs a desparate point against Croatia (1-0).  Group E goes into
full swing with Belgium (0-0-1) vs South Korea (0-1) and Holland
(0-0-1) taking on leader Mexico (1-0).

Can Paraguay advance without scoring a goal?...
