KENTUCKY LONE #1;  KANSAS SNUFFS UNC
Bigtenfan and Nwspring l still on top as 19 are still alive for money

CERRITOS, CA (smt)- After Florida's choke yesterday, it's hard to believe it could be topped.  Not necessarily a choke, but an epic collapse.  In a very competitive game, and with #1MW-UNC with a chance to tie with 3:58 left, this started this sequence of events:  missed 1 of 2 free throws, easy turnover, missed layup, missed tip-in, shot blocked, dumb foul by Stilman White for a #2MW-Kansas 3-point play, White's shot blocked, White nearly threw ball away, White missed wide open 3-pointer, Kansas misses front end of 1-and-1 and gets offensive rebound, and three more missed 3-pointers.  Result?  Kansas ends game with a 12-0 run to win 80-67. to reach the Final Four for just the 3rd time as a #1 seed ('02 & '08) in the 18 years in our pool.

Kansas may have won by more points than #1S-Kentucky did, but the Wildcats dominated #3S-Baylor jumping to a 20-point lead at the half in winning 82-70.  It was Kentucky's fourth-straight double-digit win in reaching the Final Four for the second straight year.

Heading into the Final Four, Bigtenfan and Nwspring 1 are still tied for first with 120 points but Nwspring 1 can't win first.  No one has clinched money yet but Bigtenfan has a 7 in 8 chance of winning money and a 3 in 8 chance to win the pool.  Four others are still going to try to win the pool for the first time.  Nineteen (19) still have a chance for money, the second largest number at the Final Four ever (24 in '08).  In one interesting scenario, if Kentucky beats Kansas in the final, four people will be tied for 6th.  If Louisville and Ohio St meet each other in the final, the Bigtenfan will win the pool but in the other three final possibilities, a winner won't be crown until the final buzzer.  34 went 2-0 while 19 went 0-2.  For the round, 19 went 3-1 while 14 will go 0-for-the-Final-Four.

In the race for the Bonus, the Big East could win with 13, 14, or 15 wins.  Or the Big 10 and Big East will tie with 13 wins which means no one will win Bonus1 and we will go to Bonus2 (final points in final).  But in the meantime, 18 entries can win the Bonus1.  Remember, it there is a tie (e.g., Big East 13 & Big 10 13, you have to have picked both -- whereas if you picked Big East 13 & Big 10 13 you only need one (or both) to qualify.

Tids 'n' Bits- UNC was just 2 of 17 from 3-point range... White, who had the humongous task of replacing injured point guard Kendall Marshall, played well but had that bad stretch in the last 3 minutes... 105 picked Kentucky while 44 picked Kansas... Larzby (7th-Tied, 115), who was in first for the first six gamedays is now eliminated...

Finally out-out...
