VCU WINS 3RD GAME AND ADDS TO BIG EAST MISERY
Craig jumps to 7 point lead and 85% for money as 6th prize added

CARSON, CA/CERRITOS, CA (smt)-  #11SW-VCU continues to roll and became the first team to win 3 games in the tourney to reach the Sweet 16 for the first time, giving Richmond, VA two teams in the Sweet 16. The early games saw #2E-UNC and #1W-Duke pull off squeakers with the former exchanging brain farts with #7E-Washington in the final four seconds and the latter nearly blowing a 15-point lead in the final minutes.  #1E-Ohio St. (led by David Lighty's 7/7 3-point shooting and a 50-15 run in the first half), #1SW-Kansas, and #10SW-Florida St. won easily while #11E-Marquette exchanged leads in the final minutes in beating fellow Big East team #3E-Syracuse.  The Big East is now down to just two teams.  #5W-Arizona completed a 3-point play with 9 seconds left after #4W-Texas failed to inbound the ball in time to keep the Pac-10 flame alive (they will be the Pac-12 next year).

With four upsets, Craig (12-4 for the round) and C$ still went 6-2 for the day with the former taking a 7-point lead in the pool (94 pts) and the latter moving from 116th-Tied to 79th-T (69).  The Downtown Fiction remained in second while The Fabone NC-17 and Big Luther are tied for 3rd with 83 points.  Nineteen went 3-5 leaving WE LOVE GORDO!! in dead last (58).  For the round, BamaG  and Sisyphus got just 5 of 16 games correct (both 123rd-T, 59).  Four only have 1 Final Four team left while 27 have all of them.  Crazy Lady (92nd-T, 67) only has two Elite 8 teams left.

With the expansion of the tournament field, we have also expanded, adding a 6th place prize thanks to a record 125 entries.  Prize details will be out later this week but we do know that Craig has a 85.0% of getting some money and a 44.2% of winning it all.  Flying Ace (5th-T, 82) has a 40.9% chance for money.  Eighty-seven (87) entries still have a chance to win money and 47 can still win 1st.  That means 38 entries have been eliminated and will have to rely on a chance for the Bonus Prize (again, details later this week).

You can now view the standings, team distribution, individual choice distribution, everybody's bracket, and who's who.  Mini updates will be on our homepage (blog) and discussion can occur on our Discussion Forum or Facebook

Tids & Bits - The home cooking helped UNC (11-0 in Charlotte, 29-1 in North Carolina) but didn't help Notre Dame playing in nearby Chicago... what was with the Michigan player who missed the game-tying jumper pulling his shirt up in resignation with time still left on the clock?... I don't understand the endings of the Bulter-Pitt and UNC-Washington games until you realize these are just students and not high-paid pro athletes...  UNC made its record 24th Sweet 16... if we stuck with 5 prizes, only one more entry would still be alive and if we went with 7, three more would be eliminated... the 38 eliminated entries is the second-most in history (42 last year)... although not set in stone, 100 entries is where we would have 5 prizes and 120 entries 6 prizes... Rev A corrects the number of Elite 8 Crazy Lady has left (2) and the possibility percentages  as I was looking at the 7 money spot file instead of the 6 money spot file....

First full day at home since the tourney started but I was at the Home Depot Center for the LA Galaxy opener in the pouring rain and wind
